You use your computer daily for small to big tasks. And sometimes you need to take screenshots for your task for any reason. But you don’t know how to take screenshots.
To help you, I am writing this blog to tell you how to take screenshots on a computer. Different OS has different methods for taking screenshots. Let’s talk about it according to os.
Window
Window OS is the most popular and familiar OS for users. Let’s talk about all methods that can be used to take screenshots.
Method 1. keyboard shortcut
You can take screenshots using keyboard shortcuts i.e. press the window key with the prt sc key. For this first, you just have to clear your display and open only what you have to take screenshots. Your screenshot is saved in picture folders.
Method 2. Snipping tool
First, open the snipping tool program. Then choose the type of screenshot you want to take in the mode option. Then click on new, and the program takes the screenshot.
Method 3. Third-party software
You can also use third-party software to take different types of screenshots according to the task’s needs. Various free and paid software is available for Windows OS to take screenshots like ScreenRec, SnapDraw, and Screenshot Captor.
Linux
Let’s talk about all the methods that can be used to take screenshots.
Gimp
First, open GIMP software then select File> Create>Screenshot. Then select the type of screenshot and choose with or without a pointer. Then add some delay and click the snap button. Finally, the system takes a screenshot and you are ready to use it.
Shutter
Open the shutter program, Click on the button from Selection, Desktop, and window according to your needs. The program takes screenshots according to your choice.
If you select the Selection option, it will take a type 3 screenshot. all type of screenshots is also explained in this article but last.
If you select the Desktop option it will take a type 1 screenshot. And if you choose the Window option, it will take a type 2 screenshot.
Chrome OS
Let’s talk about all the methods that can be used to take screenshots.
Method 1. keyboard shortcut
First, press Shift + Ctrl + Show windows. Select screenshot and then select the type of screenshot you want to take a full screen, partial, and window screenshot. Then select a time and then select screen capture. And the system takes screenshots.
Method 2. Screen capture tool
Open the Screen capture tool, and click on the icon which has four corners of the box. Then click on anywhere on the screen and the system takes a screenshot of the whole screen.
MAC
Let’s talk about all the methods that can be used to take screenshots.
Method 1. Keyboard shortcut
first, press all keys Shift+command+3. The system will automatically take a screenshot of the whole desktop and you can see it in the corner of the screen. and you can edit that from there.
By pressing Shift+command+4 you can take a screenshot of a portion of the desktop.
By pressing the Shift+command+4+ space bar take a screenshot of a particular window on the desktop.
Type of screenshot
The screenshot is of 3 types which are as follows
Type 1
In type 1, when you take a screenshot it captures the whole screen whatever is displayed on the computer screen.
Type 2
In type 2, when you take a screenshot it captures only the part of under opened software.
Type3
In type 3, when you take a screenshot it displays a box. And you can rearrange that box according to your needs. it captures only whatever is inside that box.
